Overview

MealPlannerAI ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information.

Data We Collect

Data You Provide

When you use MealPlannerAI, you provide the following preferences:

• Weekly grocery budget
• Dietary preferences (diet type)
• Food allergies and restrictions
• Calorie target and fitness goal
• Household size

Data Stored Locally

All of the following data is stored only on your device using iOS local storage:

• Your preferences (listed above)
• Generated meal plans and recipes
• Grocery lists and checked items
• Favorite meals
• Meal plan history
• App appearance settings

We do not have a server or database. Your data never leaves your device except when sent to the AI provider to generate meal plans (described below).

Third-Party AI Data Processing

MealPlannerAI uses OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini (accessed via the OpenRouter API) to generate personalized meal plans.

What is sent to the AI provider:

• Your dietary preferences (diet type, allergies)
• Your weekly grocery budget
• Your household size
• Your calorie target and fitness goal

What is NOT sent to the AI provider:

• Your name, email, or any personal identity information
• Your location
• Your device identifiers
• Your purchase or subscription history
• Your grocery list check-off status or favorites

AI provider data handling:

• Data is sent via encrypted HTTPS connection
• Data is used solely to generate your meal plan response
• Data is not stored by the AI provider after processing
• Data is not used to train AI models

You must provide explicit consent via an in-app dialog before any data is sent to the AI provider. You can revoke this consent at any time in Settings > Privacy & Data > Revoke AI Consent.

Subscription and Payment Data

Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives:

• An anonymous user identifier
• Your subscription status (active/expired)

RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, payment details, or any personal information. Apple handles all payment processing.

Analytics and Tracking

MealPlannerAI does not use any analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or advertising identifiers. We do not track your behavior, collect usage data, or share data with advertisers.

Data Retention

• Local data: Stored on your device until you delete it (via Settings > Reset All Data) or uninstall the app.
• AI-processed data: Not retained after your meal plan is generated.
• Subscription data: Managed by Apple and RevenueCat per their respective retention policies.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: All your data is visible in the app.
• Delete your data: Use Settings > Reset All Data to delete all locally stored data.
• Revoke AI consent: Use Settings > Privacy & Data > Revoke AI Consent.
• Cancel your subscription: Manage subscriptions in your App Store account settings.

For EU/EEA Users (GDPR)

You have additional rights under GDPR including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Since we do not collect personal data on our servers, most of these rights are automatically satisfied.

For California Users (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for targeted advertising.

Children's Privacy

MealPlannerAI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and at this page.
